Embracing a Culture of Evangelism

Dear friends,

I welcome you to the month of March with great enthusiasm and anticipation for what the Lord will do in our community and beyond as we step out and step up in faith to reach the lost. Starting this month, I will be sharing insights through this platform to help us cultivate and embrace a culture of evangelism—whether in our personal lives, churches, or ministries. These insights are drawn from the life, ministry, and example of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As we know, culture is the shared beliefs, values, customs, and behaviors that define a group or individual. It exists not only at national, regional, or ethnic levels but also on personal and organizational levels, including the church. Culture is dynamic—it evolves over time as societies change and interact. However, the DNA of evangelism in Christ is both enduring and adaptable, crossing generations with its approach and application.

A culture of evangelism means creating an environment where sharing the gospel becomes natural, intentional, and integrated into daily life—both personally and within the church. When evangelism becomes part of our DNA, it moves beyond individual efforts to fostering a community that is passionate about making Jesus known. By following Christ’s model, we can develop both personal and organizational evangelism DNA.

In a seven-part series beginning next month, I will outline key steps to help us cultivate this culture of evangelism, drawing from Matthew chapters 3 and 4.

The first step we will explore next month is PREPARATION—a crucial foundation for embracing and sustaining evangelism in our lives and ministries.

And a few other things…….

Evangelism Training: The Three Stories that Change Lives

On February 15, 2025, Dr. Fred and I facilitated an evangelism training for churches across the Black Hills, hosted by Redeeming Grace Church in Rapid City. We used our updated training manual, “The Three Stories That Change Lives,” alongside other tools designed to support intentional evangelism initiatives. A special thank-you to Redeeming Grace Church for their hospitality and dedication in hosting this impactful event.

Mission trip to Africa

I am excited to share that from March 20-April 3, I will be traveling to South Africa and Nigeria as part of a mission team with Dr. Fred and our South African partner Dr. Julius Mbu. In South Africa, we will partner with Hope Baptist Church to continue training pastors in year two of our three-year program, The TASK (TELL Africa School of Kingdom Growth). This year’s focus will be on practical ministry—equipping pastors with the tools they need to serve effectively. In Nigeria, we will host church leadership training conferences in Abuja and Lagos, equipping and empowering local church leaders to spread the Gospel and strengthen their ministries. Our theme for this mission trip is “Empower 2025” and it focuses on: empowering the church through evangelism, empowering the church through expository preaching, and empowering the church through partnership. Please pray for us as we prepare and as we gather the resources needed for this mission trip.

3:16 On 3/16

One of our major evangelism initiatives this year, 3:16 on 3/16, is fast approaching! Please reach out if you need any assistance in preparing for it.

Evangelism  Workshop

Our Evangelism Workshop and Youth Rally is coming up April from 24—26 in Rapid City. The workshop will be at Christ Church and the Youth Rally will be at Calvary Baptist Church. Look for more information in the article below. Please plan to pray for and take part in this important event.

Evangelism Hangout

Late last year, we launched an initiative called Evangelism Hangout, a video podcast designed to share evangelism ideas and stories. Do you have an evangelism testimony or strategy to share? We’d love to feature you! Get in touch with me at [email protected] to schedule a time to record your story so that others across the Dakotas and beyond can benefit from your experience.

Let us continue to embrace and spread the culture of evangelism, making Jesus known in every place and season!

Blessings,
