Pastors and Wives Gather to “Reconnect”
Several Dakota pastors and their wives met in August at the 2024 DBC Pastors and Wives Retreat. The retreat was held at Cornerstone Community Church in Mobridge, SD.
The theme of the retreat was “Reconnect.” Jamie Dew, president of New Orleans Baptist Seminary, was the featured speaker for the event. He and his wife Tara also separate breakout sessions for the men and women. Singing was led by Funmi Adeyemo (Rapid City, SD: Hills of Grace) and her daughters Damola and Teni.
Mobridge sits alongside the Missouri River which provided a beautiful view for “Date Night,” one of the special events during the retreat. A local restaurant opened on Friday evening just for the couples, which each had a window table overlooking the river.
Other special activities included fellowship time and a Friday afternoon that was free for each couple to go four-wheeling, wander around Mobridge, or just have a relaxing few hours. Devotionals were shared by Everett Hornbostel and DBC Executive Director Fred MacDonald. Hornbostel is the pastor at Cornerstone Church and a Church Relations Missionary (CRM) for the DBC.
The retreat was well hosted by Cornerstone Church. Desserts and snacks for the weekend were homemade cakes and treats prepared by the ladies of Cornerstone. The retreat was planned by a team made up of Hornbostel, his wife Rebecca, and Matt and Missy Price (Sturgis, SD: Connection Church).
