Journey Church Hosts Security Seminar
On March 2, nine members of Journey Church in Fargo participated a Church Security Seminar. Discussion covered practices for keeping the church parking lot safe, good use of lighting and cameras, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), and active intruder response.
There were also discussions related to handling sexual abuse allegations and training for children’s ministry leaders and other church leadership. MinistrySafe is a tool that offers protection training. It is designed to help participants understand signs of grooming, both seeing signs in people who have been groomed and seeing how others might groom the gatekeepers of the church.
Once the teaching session was completed, a walk around of the church facilities was made. Areas where the church is doing well in keeping people safe as well as areas where improvement could be made were highlighted.
